It originated in Canada in 1991 and became a competition sport by 1994. It's judged similar to ice dancing - on technical and artistic presentation. It is also a FUN way to interact with your dog - if only for two of you, or to amuse your family & friends, or entertain at social & Charitable events. "GETTING STARTED" by teaching your dog 20 movements that you can dance routines is what this video is all about. Sandra and her Giant Schnauzer demonstrate how to teach your dog the movements in a step by step positive approach. The moves are divided into 3 categories: 1. The 8 PARALLEL moves where dog and handler move together. Following the instruction in each category, Sandra and her Border Collie will perform a dance routine that features those movements.

You will learn how she chooses and etids the music so that it has both the right length and content, for an entertaining performance. Sandra also describes and demonstrates how she approaches choreographing dances for her dog. She walks the viewer through the process of selcting the music, editing the recording and choreograpfing a dance for her 8 year old giant Schnauzer, Jabba
* Dancing with your dog, Tape 3: Getting Applause - Sandra Davis Sandra's third and final instructional video, GETTING APPLAUSE, in her Dancing With Your Dog trilogy, sets the stage for performing publicly with your dog. She presents her recipe for successful, applause getting performances. Using personal examples of mishaps in her own routines, Sandra points out ways of avoiding possible embarrassment on stage. The progression from teaching your dog all the basic moves (Getting Started), through selecticting & editing music & choreographing your first dance (Getting the Rhythm) to advancing your movements and presenting a polished performance will help every dance team in Getting Applause.
